WAITER: Good evening, sir.

TONY: Good evening. A table for two, please.

WAITER: Certainly.

 

WAITER: The menu. Would you like a drink before your meal?

TONY: No, thankyou.

 

TONY: What would you like to start with?

SUSAN: I'd like some soup.

TONY: Yes, I'll have soup, too.

 

. . . And what would you like afterwards?

SUSAN: A steak.

TONY: What vegetables?

SUSAN: I'll have peas and chips with it.

 

TONY: Would you like some wine?

SUSAN: Yes, please.

TONY: Red or white?

SUSAN: Red, please.

 



TONY: Waiter! Two chicken soups; then two steaks with chips and peas. And a bottle of red wine.

WAITER: Yes, sir. How would you like the steaks, sir?

TONY: Susan?

SUSAN: Well done.

TONY: ... The lady's steak well done and mine medium, please.

WAITER: Thankyou, sir.
